For Spring/Summer 2024, Matthew M. Williams grounded his Givenchy men's collection in the symbolism of the school uniform — democracy, constraint, and the instinct to subvert both. The Oversized Chino Trouser is the collection's most elemental piece: a wardrobe archetype recast through luxury fabrication and a signature overlaying hook cinching system that transforms a classic silhouette into something definitively Givenchy. It features:

Relaxed oversized cut with a generous leg opening and high-waisted silhouette
Signature overlaying hook cinching detail at the waistband — the collection's defining construction note

Side slash pockets and rear welt pockets
Clean, unadorned beige cotton canvas construction with tonal stitching throughout

The fabric is a mid-weight cotton canvas — the material of utility and workwear, elevated here through precise Italian construction. In beige, it reads equally at ease as a tailored trouser or a streetwear wide-leg; the SS24 collection's central argument was that this distinction no longer exists.
Williams' SS24 was his most assured collection at the house: a meditation on masculine dressing stripped of its inherited codes. The chino — most obedient of all men's trousers — becomes, through the overlaying hook system and oversized proportion, an act of quiet rebellion.
